For four weeks the third graders worked on improving their keyboarding skills. There are several sites online where they can continue practicing over the summer. They are very skilled at searching the Internet, and they can easily use Google to search for a keyboarding site they could use this summer.

The third graders researched planets using Google's search engine. The information they found during this research was used to create a poster that was displayed at the Academic Fair. They became very skilled at searching for web sites, and determining if they had found a valuable resource.

This year the third graders were introduced to Project Based Learning. Project Based Learning is an instructional approach built upon that engage student interest and motivation. These projects are designed to answer a question or solve a problem and generally reflect the types of learning and work people do in the everyday world outside the classroom. They spent the majority of their time in my class working on the projects that they planned with Morah Eileen. The goal was to integrate technology into all of their projects, as well as working on individual academic needs. They became very skilled at designing, completing, and presenting their projects. It was wonderful watching the third graders confidently presenting their projects to their parents, teachers, and the fourth and fifth graders.
